How we work

How we estimate and charge

The cost of custom web development depends on the features, connections and data involved. We give you a written estimate before work starts. An estimate sets out the expected cost; any fixed-price work is agreed separately in writing.

  1. 1
    Discovery
    Fixed price

A fixed fee to understand the problem, test a prototype and produce a written estimate. You know the cost before you commit to a build.

  2. 2
    Design
    Included

Prototypes and user testing are part of the estimate, so there are no hidden design fees.

  3. 3
    Build
    Staged payments

The build is split into stages that match the plan. You pay as working software is delivered.

  4. 4
    Support
    Monthly

A monthly plan covering security updates, monitoring and agreed hours for small improvements.

Questions about cost

How much does a project cost?

Small projects start from a few thousand pounds; larger platforms are scoped after a fixed-price discovery. You always get a written estimate before any work starts.

Do you work fixed price?

Discovery is always a fixed fee. For the build, you get a written estimate for each stage and pay in stages as working software is delivered.

How do you bill?

Discovery is a fixed fee. The build is invoiced in stages linked to the agreed plan, and support is invoiced monthly in advance. Invoices are due within 14 days.

What if scope changes?

We talk it through with you first. We explain in writing what the change means for cost and timing, and nothing changes until you agree.

What affects the cost of bespoke software?

The main factors are the number of features, how complex the rules are, how many other systems it must connect to, security and accessibility requirements, and how much data needs moving across. Discovery turns these into a written estimate.
